Large Amounts of Contaminants Found in Drinking Water at Fanling Queen's Hill Estate; Filter Cartridges and Taps All Turned Black, Residents Fear Water Contamination
On the 30th, the water quality at Fanling Queen's Hill Estate began to show abnormalities, with drinking water mixed with large amounts of black contaminants. Residents are worried about water contamination and are hesitant to drink it. Some netizens questioned why the Water Supplies Department did not issue a notification despite being aware of the issue earlier that morning, showing indifference to the residents' drinking water safety.
Multiple Facebook pages related to Queen's Hill Estate are discussing the contamination issue. One netizen commented, "This is really exaggerated. I experienced something similar when I moved in, but it wasn’t this serious." Another asked, "What happened to the water tank? Normally, all the filters are just brown; today, after using the water for a day, I found more and more black spots. I changed to a brand new one, and within five minutes, it was completely black. Does anyone know what happened?"
Pictures shared by residents show that the parts of the filters, whether the water core or the spout, are covered with numerous black spots, some resembling charcoal dust. Some images are captioned, "I installed a brand new one and it only ran for five minutes." The filter shown in the picture is completely black, raising hygiene concerns if the water is used directly without filtration. One resident stated, "I feel like I’m drinking pure Dongjiang water and brewing pure Dongjiang tea."
